The added side load created by driving most superchargers adds a great deal of stress to the harmonic damper and crank snout (pulling on the damper). A stock-dimension small block Chevy harmonic damper can split in the keyways when driving a supercharger. Increasing the O.D. of the harmonic damper where it passes through the oil seal provides a great improvement in strength for the damper and crankshaft. Adding the big block Chevy oil seal dimension to this damper is ideal to increase strength where it is needed most.
